Putnam County household garbage is shipped to Rhea County Landfill in the amount of 52,156.5 tons in the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Construction waste taken to Putnam County landfill 11,156 tons for 2009-2010 fiscal year.

Putnam County exceeded the 25% mandatory state waste reduction goal. Putnam County's waste reduction in the 2009-2010 fiscal year was 67.79%.
