Programs
Mission Statement:The Cookeville-Putnam County
Clean Commission is dedicated to provide educational leadership and
involve Putnam County residents
in area
beautification and environmental improvement, including proper solid
waste management.
Educational and awareness programs are held throughout the year
in conjunction with area schools, community activities, civic groups
and businesses.
- Business and Residential Property
Awards runs April through
October.
- Putnam Pride Days, a month long program that focuses on
countywide beautification.
- Sponsor “Litter-Free” events, helps raise awareness
and concern about our local litter problem where large number of
people may gather.
- Adopt-A-Road program allows groups an opportunity to “pitch in” by
volunteering time for roadway litter pick-ups.
- In Our Schools programs are designed each semester for area
classrooms to study topics including recycling, litter prevention,
and conserving
our natural resources
for future generations.
- “Songs and Art for the Earth”, a volunteer program
that combines music and art with environmental education and awareness
in the classroom.
- Household Hazardous Waste Day events, a program that
allows concerned environmentally aware Putnam County residents
to rid
their storage areas
of environmentally hazardous materials.
- Putnam County Recycles Day, a joint program with Putnam County
Solid Waste Dept. that allows residents to recycle all their
everyday waste,
during
this day surveys
are taken which allows our recycling program to grow and
work with the residents needs.
- School and Community beautification projects.
- Serve as a clearinghouse for litter, recycling, and community
beautification information.
